It was the morning of September 19th, 2010. It was seven o’clock, and I heard a knock at the door. Through the window, I could see two U.S. Army officers in uniform. I stopped where I stood on the bottom step, frozen; wondering if I was about to hear the news every military family dreads. My mind raced. Was Brian safe? Would he be coming home?
“It’s okay,” I heard a voice through the door. “Brian’s okay! He’s been injured, though, and we need you to let us in.”
One week later at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, I saw Brian lying on the bed in the hospital room. He couldn’t speak, but I could see it in his eyes. The fight was still there. Even though he lost two legs and a finger, the fight was there. But Brian’s always been a fighter.
I knew that he wasn’t going to let this take him down. Brian is living proof that you can take the warrior out of a fight, but you can never take the fight out of a warrior.
America needs a hero now–a proven one. Brian’s mission is to serve our country as your congressman and, with your help, we elected him to office. Brian has the experience and leadership that our country needs right now, and he has kept his promise to always have our backs in Congress. Can Brian count on your support for his re-election?
