Honoring the Sacrifice: Better Healthcare for Our Heroes

Honoring the Sacrifice: Better Healthcare for Our Heroes

When I wore the uniform of the U.S. Army, I saw firsthand what it means to give everything for this country. Like so many of my brothers- and sisters-in-arms, I left a piece of myself on the battlefield. When our service members come home, the battles shouldn’t follow them.

As your representative, I’ve made it my personal mission to deliver real, tangible results that improve our veterans’ health, security, and daily lives.

I am actively pushing for critical reforms to better serve our veteran community:

  • Expanding Healthcare Choice: Funding veteran community care so you can see the specialists who actually meet your unique needs.
  • Safer Medical Alternatives: Fighting to ensure VA doctors can openly discuss safe, non-narcotic alternatives for chronic pain and PTSD.
  • National Progress: Our efforts are part of a broader push that has already opened 35 new VA facilities, welcomed 125,000 new veterans into the system, and slashed the benefits backlog by 70%.

We are seeing the direct impact of this momentum right here at home. Through a historic VA facility maintenance initiative, the Thomas H. Corey VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach secured funding for two vital projects: updating essential water systems and completely remodeling facilities for handicap accessibility.

While plumbing and bathroom accessibility updates might sound minor on paper, they provide the everyday dignity our veterans deserve. This milestone is deeply personal to me. I was proud to champion the legislation naming this facility after Thomas H. Corey—a brave Vietnam veteran paralyzed at 24 who dedicated his life to advocating for local heroes. Seeing his namesake facility receive these upgrades is a major victory.

Providing care worthy of America’s veterans’ sacrifice is the absolute least we can do.
