The critics told us the EAA Reservoir, the crown jewel of Everglades restoration, would
never see the light of day. Not enough political will, not enough funding, and too much
special interest opposition, they said.
But if there’s one thing I’ve learned from my time in the Army and in Congress, it’s that
the impossible is just a starting point. That’s why, during my first term in Congress, I
wrote and passed the bill that authorized the EAA Reservoir anyway.
This week, we secured more than $2 billion in funding to accelerate the project’s
completion. The reservoir is now on track to be done 5 years earlier, moving the
finish line up from 2034 to 2029. While others were content with the status quo, I took
the lead to ensure this project is becoming a reality.

I was proud to stand at the construction site this week with public officials from across
our state to mark the real, measurable progress we’ve made on the EAA Reservoir. We
aren’t just talking about restoring the Everglades, we’re doing it.
For decades, our coastal communities have been treated like sewers for the rest of the
state’s dirty water. We’ve lost numerous summers to the noxious sludge of toxic algae.
But we’ve fought back, together. This isn’t just about infrastructure. It’s about our way of
life.
Now, with this announcement, we have major momentum, but the mission of zero
discharges isn’t over yet. I need to show Washington that the people of Florida are still
standing with me.
Please, help us keep the pressure on. Sign our petition below to tell the
bureaucrats in D.C. that we must complete the EAA reservoir ASAP!
